Uganda is marred by Criminal activities especially among the youth caused by massive unemployment. This is worse in and around urban areas where the youth have created gangs.
These terrorize people through acts of violence including but not limited to theft, murder, rape, defilement etc.
In Kawempe a suburb of Kampala City, a gang called Kasolo Boys was ruthless in its acts of terror. They caused insecurity, damage to life and property to hundreds of Kampala residents.
They blamed poverty as the main reason why they formed a criminal gang. In it they saw an avenue of getting quick money and also had the backing of rogue security personnel.
These offered them backup and security during their operations and also whenever they were arrested. These Rogue Security elements also penalized them whenever they came short in terms of loot sharing or paying “protection fees” to them.
Lucky enough, Bryan White through his Bryan White Foundation heard of their plight and decided to take action.
He summoned their leaders to a meeting through which they aired out their grievances and also informed him that they didn’t want to live a life of terror and looking over their shoulders as they had lost many of their brothers and sisters in the gang which carrying out their operations.
Bryan White through his Bryan White Foundation empowered them with Cash to start money generating activities and create employment for the members of the Kasolo Boys Crew.
Fast Forward to October 2018, the Crew had successfully set up several money generating activities, created employment for various members and successfully convinced more of their colleagues to abandon the criminal mentality.
The Leaders came to the Bryan White Foundation Offices on 24th October to show their resolve of preaching to their brothers and sisters still caught up in the gang life and are holding an event on 27th October 2018 to attest to the changes in their life.
Thanks to the Bryan White Foundation
