Bryan White Foundation Officially Breaks Ground in Busunju on the Criminal Rehabilitation Center Project
Bryan White and the Bryan White Foundation have officially started the construction of a Criminal Rehabilitation Center in Busunju.
The foundation has in the past been known for funding youth related projects but decided to turn a new leaf in 2019.
Uganda is plagued with a lot of criminal activities, majority of which are spearheaded by youth related gangs.
Many have turned to gangs because of failure to get jobs or self sustaining ventures and see crime as a quick money making enterprise but one which comes at great cost especially loss of life.
As the Bryan White Foundation went around with its previous projects, most of the youth they interacted with shared the criminality experience and thus gave birth to the idea of a rehabilitation center.
This Center will be a central point where all the youth from different part of the country are brought together, transformed and skilled into responsible citizens and then equipped with finances to set up self sustaining business ventures.
Its seated on Bryan White’s 500 acres of land and thus offers a vast space for a large center and can accommodate thousands of people at a time, making it very viable for the project.
Already 6000 criminal gang members have signed up for the project as they wish to turn a new chapter of their lives, one that will have them become responsible citizens, parents, children and neighbors.
